Welcome to Blogrigado! This shall be Tom and Steph's travel blog so friends and family and maybe others can see what were up to on our journey.
In case you don't know, the first foot of our journey is a East to West trip of South America (hence the blog name) Today we finally landed in the long awaited Rio De Janerio, with a short stop at Sao Paulo.
Overall the two flights took about 14 hours and we flew with Tam airlines who were great! There was an option to watch the whole flight on webcam, as well as a large choice of music and films, but we slept the whole way, despite a friendly but fidgety Chilean lady.
We are staying in a small hostel called the 'Mango Tree', which is literally a block away from Ipanema Beach which we want to explore tomorrow. On our way to the hostel we briefly saw what Rio had to offer, including the amazing Christ the Reedemer statue (which we will further explore on Monday) and some favella looking towns. So far, everyone has been very welcoming and friendly as well as being generous with high fives and hand shakes.
The hostel itself, is bright and breezy, and everyone seems pretty chilled (especially now we've figured out the air con.)

As we said, tomorrow we hit the beach and will let you know how that is. Although the weather is slightly overcast, we'll probably still burn our pale British skin!

Thanks again to Holly who bought us these pendants. St. Christopher the patron saint of travel has served us well so far and long may it continue.
